Before you begin

Complete these checks before starting the configuration

If you are reconfiguring the device following the expiration of a previous certificate, we recommend that you “forget” the networks you previously configured.

1/2

Install the certificate

  1. Extracting and certificate password: the extraction password is provided to you together with the certificate. Remember to take a note.
If the extraction does not start automatically, click on the file with the .p12 extension which is normally saved in the download folder.
  2. Wi-Fi or VPN: choose Wi-fi
  3. Specify a Name for the Certificate:
    • certificate name: rename the certificate as desired (eg Politecnico)
    • use of the credential: Wi-Fi
2/2

Network parameters

Access available networks on your device:

  1. Select the network you want to configure: “polimi-protected” or “eduroam”.
  2. Depending on the options available, choose “Modify Network” or “Connect”.

Set these parameters:

  • EAP method: TLS
  • CA certificate: “Use system certificates” or “Not specified”
  • Domain: wifi.polimi.it (if present)
  • User certificate: enter the name given to your certificate
  • Identity: PersonCode@polimi.it (eg. 12345678@polimi.it)

Then click on Save and then on Connect.

You have completed the configuration of your first Wi-Fi network

  • Repeat from step 2/2 to configure the second Wi-Fi network as well.
  • The certificate expires two years after its generation. You will receive an email notification approximately 15 days prior to the expiration.
Upon expiration, the connection will stop working and you will need to repeat the configuration with a new certificate.
