Lessons

CISCO Webex is the web conference platform for educational activities.

The virtual classrooms are not activated for the single course; each teacher and collaborator has their own Webex Personal Room.

There are also Teams classrooms intended for receiving students, oral exams, any group activities and to be used as an alternative platform in case of interruption of the CISCO Webex Meetings service.

The Webex license is assigned the day after enrollment, you will receive a notification email directly from Cisco on the institutional mailbox.

The license must be activated for:

  • follow the lessons through the teacher’s personal room without problems
  • use the platform for personal activities
  • follow courses not included in your study plan (following an agreement with the teacher)

How to activate:

  1. once enrolled, you will receive an e-mail notification from Cisco on your institutional mailbox
  2. open the notification and press Activate
  3. identify yourself through institutional email address (name.surname@mail.polimi.it)

In case you have not received the notification email:

  1. connect to http://politecnicomilano.webex.com
  2. press Sign in
  3. identify yourself through institutional email address (name.surname@mail.polimi.it)
  4. Login to the University services
  5. if you are asked for the domain url, indicate http://politecnicomilano.webex.com

The links to the classrooms (Personal Webex Room of teachers and collaborators) are available in the “Class Timetable” in the Online Services.

Tip: Install the Webex App as browser access has limited functionality.

To access the Teams virtual classroom of the course:

  1. use the “Search for teachers” from “Tools” on the Polimi website;
  2. access the teacher profile;
  3. at the level of the single course, in the section “Educational programs and timetables” select the link to the Teams classroom.

Recordings

Teachers and assistants may, at their discretion, make the lessons recorded in Webex available to students.

All the published recordings and video contents of a course converge in a single course archive.

There are two access options:

  • through the “Recordings Archive” service available in the Online Services
  • from WeBeep, using the Recordings archive link available in the course details

There is no expiration date for registrations but the teacher, or the collaborator, can decide to delete them.

Exams

The teacher can decide to carry out the exam remotely using a virtual classroom.

The access links are published on the day of the exam in the “Exam Registration” service.

To access the Teams virtual classroom of the course:

  1. use the “Search for teachers” from “Tools” on the Polimi website;
  2. access the teacher profile;
  3. at the level of the single course, in the section “Educational programs and timetables” select the link to the Teams classroom.
